Physiotherapy · Tampere

Toward pain-free, strong and aware movement.

An active approach to physiotherapy: participatory assessment, growing body awareness, and a progressive therapeutic exercise program. Your rehabilitation plan is created together with you — treating the person as a whole, not offering instant fixes.

My approach

My specialties are musculoskeletal physiotherapy, therapeutic exercise, occupational physiotherapy, and dance-specific physiotherapy.

Therapy is built on assessment, clinical decision-making, and reassessment. Emphasis is on your own ability to change and improve — an individual program is created together with you.

Services

Five areas of care — from assessment and treatment to prevention and guided training.

01

Musculoskeletal physiotherapy

Assessment and treatment of muscle, joint and soft-tissue conditions — ankle, knee, hip, back, neck, shoulder and forearm. From pain-specific exercise progressively to functional training; the goal is pain management and recurrence prevention.

02

Preventative physiotherapy

Postural and movement assessment, strength and range-of-motion assessment, and gym program planning and instruction for safe training. Correct standing, sitting and moving reduces strain — many injuries and surgeries are preventable.

03

Occupational health physiotherapy

Assessment and treatment of work-related strain, injury prevention, check-ups, and workplace ergonomics education.

04

Dance-specific physiotherapy

Prevention and treatment of dance-training strains, pain and injuries. Guidance based on movement analysis and functional training, plus education of dance students and teachers on dance anatomy and biomechanics.

05

Kinesiotaping

Increases blood flow and alleviates pain, relaxes or activates muscles, and supports joint alignment.

Julia Van Camp

I am a dance pedagogue, choreographer and physiotherapist, and a co-founder of DanceUp Academy. Degrees from the St. Petersburg College of Culture and Arts (dance pedagogy and choreography) and TAMK (physiotherapy).

In my work I combine dance pedagogy with anatomy, biomechanics and kinesiology — understanding the body as a whole is the starting point for everything.

Frequently asked questions

What happens at the first visit?

We start with a participatory assessment: your symptoms, movement and goals. From there we create an individual rehabilitation program together, and reassess it as we go.

Can I choose a video appointment?

Yes — 45 and 60 minute appointments are also available by video.

What should I wear?

Be prepared to undress for the assessment. If you prefer not to be in your underclothes, bring form-fitting shorts — and for women, a form-fitting top as well.

Where is the practice located?

At the Pirte Ratina medical center, on the 4th floor of the Ratina shopping centre in central Tampere.

Who is dance-specific physiotherapy for?

For dance teachers, professional dancers, and anyone dancing as a hobby who notices pain related to dancing. You can visit for prevention or for existing issues.
